Sonny walked up towards the McGurn’s body. He was still enraged at him for what he had done to Castillo but he was relieved it was over. “Maybe your fingers won’t move McGurn. Maybe they won’t.”

Sonny thought about it for a moment. Hitting a children’s hospital wasn’t McGurn’s style. He was a gun runner and an anti-government extremist. The hospital is government funded but this wasn’t a big enough target for McGurn. It just didn’t make sense and who was this Francis? Why did he hire McGurn?

Castillo was actually touched by that. Even though he didn’t believe in revenge, he was touched. His friends and former coworkers, and come thousands of miles and put their lives in harm’s way to help him. He managed to smile.

McGurn opened one of the crates. He and Clint pulled out two rifles and tossed them to Sonny and Rico. They both caught them. When they looked up, they saw McGurn and his men pointing their guns at them. “Well, I’d say you’re shit out of luck Mr. Burnett, or should I say Crockett.”

“Yup they’re cops. Their real names are Sonny Crockett and Ricardo Tubbs. They were former vice cops. They served under the Lieutenant that was shot during the last deal and they want to put you
behind bars.”

Crockett and Tubbs sat in the Testarossa which was parked in the parking lot of the park. They were at the right place at the right time but no sign of this Clint person. He was a half hour late. Crockett had forgotten how boring the waiting was.

Crockett’s jaw dropped to the floor. Rico smiled. It was the same car that he used when he was on the force. They had confiscated it shortly after he and Rico had quit eleven years ago. Crockett had assumed that it would be in a scrapyard by now but here she was, right in front of him.

They wanted to tell the other what they were doing here and why, but nothing needed to be said. They worked together for a long time and they knew what the other was thinking. The bond they shared together as partners was still as strong as it was fifteen years ago when they met.

They didn’t have to guess what happened when they saw the black and whites flashing their lights. They got out of the car, approached the officer in charge, and flashed their badges. “I’m Detective Joey Hardin and this is my partner, Zack Andrews, Miami Vice. Can we take a look around?” asked Hardin.

Sonny remembered when he first met Rico. He had just jumped onto his speed boat after Rico had stolen it during a bust. He didn’t know Rico was a cop until he pulled
out his badge and said “New York” with that accent.
