Sure wish they’d show the episodes on a regular channel. We don’t get Sleuth down here!! Oh, well, there’s always the DVD’s, I guess. Somehow, it always seems better to watch it actually being broadcast.

I dunno… while the DirecTV broadcast is just as crisp as the picture from the DVDs, I normally can’t make myself sit through the commercials!

But once I did. I sat and watched the second half of “Out Where The Buses Don’t Run” when I was flipping through the guide and saw it was on.

In Norway, we’re getting to see Vice on Viasat 4. It airs usually right after midnight. Right now (Dec 08) we’re well into season 4. So I’m not sure how much longer it’ll be on.

It looks like in Sweden it’s on Viasat 6. Running around 1 am. But they’re lucky, just at the end of season 1 right now!

Hulu has the first four seasons on their website along with a lot of other shows. I would imagine they are going to add the fifth pretty soon.

In Estonia we can watch Miami Vice on TV3. We’re in the beginning of season 2.

Just as Erich mentioned above, Hulu.com has the first seasons available to view on the Internet free of charge. I’ll attempt to provide a click-through link.

Miami Vice is also shown on Centric on the East Coast at 11:00 PM. The series finale, Freefall, was shown tonight. Although I have the DVD’s there’s nothing like viewing it on broadcast television. Viva La Miami Vice!!!

I’ve always been interested in the show, but wanted to watch it on air and not on hulu or anything like that. Glad I caught it on Centric, and I guess the series will start over again in the next few days. Looking forward to it! I love the 80s and GTA Vice City and all that so I hope it lives up to my advance billing. If I watch it for the long haul, are there any seasons that generally are panned by critics/fans, anything I should look for as a totally new viewer?

There are a few fun things that you can catch, but given the amount of editing that’s necessary to get the show to fit into today “hour” slot, I’m wondering how much of the cool stuff has been cut. I saw part of one episode on Centric, and was surprised by some of the cuts.

Back in 1984-88, an hour episode consisted of about 45-48 minutes of show. These days, you’re lucky to get 42 minutes; some newer shows are closer to 40. You can really tell… reruns of shows on “Law & Order: Criminal Intent” on USA and Bravo have scenes missing, and even “NCIS” reruns have scenes missing, from shows that are only 2-3 years old. So if you can, I’d recommend catching the streaming eps… I don’t think those are cut (but I should probably check to see if they are or not!)

Here’s something to watch for: I’m always amused by a cue signal you can see in “Milk Run”. Towards the end, after the shootout at the hotel, Tubbs and Castillo are outside talking, and you can see Sonny in the background inside the hotel. If you watch PMT’s hands, you can see him wave his fingers even though he’s trying to hide his hand by his hip. At that moment, DJ turns and begins walking towards the hotel door so he can hit his mark and say his line. Since this scene contains a crucial conversation, it’s not one that I’ve ever seen cut out on broadcast.

Many fans want Miami Vice back on regular cable channels like USA, Hallmark SPIKE etc.
You can watch the DVDs but watching with the rest of the country at the same time is THE BEST!!

Miami Vice currently airs on Kanal 6 here in Sweden late at night all days during weekdays.
