Eartha Kitt, renowned singer and actress, died on Thursday, Dec 25 from colon cancer. She was 81.

Best known on television for her role as Catwoman on Batman in 1967-68, she also played the memorable role of the Santeria priestess Chata in the Miami Vice second season episode Whatever Works.

During her career, she had won two Emmys for her voice work in the animated “The Emperor’s New School” (continuing from the voicework she did at Yzma in Disney’s “The Emperor’s New Groove”), and had been nominated for Tony and Grammy Awards. Her sultry 1954 rendition of “Santa Baby” can be heard on the radio every holiday season.
